The Australian Poker Hall of Fame has indected two new poker players. Jason Gray on the left and David Gorr on the right were honored at the 2012 Aussie Millions.

The 2012 Aussie Millions is well underway in Melbourne and at the start of the festivities the Australian Poker Hall of Fame inducted two poker players to the APHOF. The APHOF was created in 2009 by Maurie Pears as a way to recognize the accomplishments of poker players that currently reside in or used to reside in Australia or New Zealand. When the Australian Poker Hall of Fame was initially launched seven poker players were inducted.

This past week David Gorr and Jason Gray were inducted into the Australian Poker Hall of Fame. The total number of poker players in the APHOF is 13 including the two new inductees. In order to have a chance to be inducted into the APHOF players need to have been a resident of Australia or New Zealand or currently be a resident. Players also need to have displayed excellence at the poker tables and/or helped poker in Australia grow.

David Gorr has won millions playing poker in Australia including his biggest win, which was winning the 2011 Aussie Millions main event for nearly $2M. Gorr is a familiar face on the Australian live tournament circuit and has cashed in about three dozen poker tournaments in his career. Gorr was humbled to be inducted into the Australian Poker Hall of Fame, but there is no doubt that he is deserving of being recognized for his contribution to poker in Australia.

Jason Gray has won over $1M in live poker tournaments in his career, but he has never been able to win a major event yet. Gray is a veteran poker player that has been on the circuit for nearly 20 years now. Gray may not have won a big event yet in his career, but he has picked up plenty of money playing in live poker tournaments down under including $300K in a 2008 APPT Sydney event.

The current list of players that have been inducted into the Australian Poker Hall of Fame include Joe Hachem, Jeff Lisandro, Mel Judah, Lee Nelson, Gary Benson, Billy Argyros, Tony G, Maurie Pears, Marsha Waggonier, Leo Boxell, Danny McDonagh, David Gorr and Jason Gray. The APHOF continues to grow every year and I’m sure there will be even more great poker players inducted in the coming years.

You guys that live in Australia or New Zealand could be inducted into the APHOF in the future as well. In order to hone your skills at the poker tables we recommend you play poker at Carbon Poker. They have excellent MTT’s and a great monthly leaderboard for MTT players that can earn you a piece of $20,000.
